Is Buying Into to 2012 “Doomsday” Scenario One of Societies’ “Greatest Hopes”?

You have to ask yourself, aside from the date December 21, 2012, coinciding with the end of 13 Baktun in the mayan long count calendar; if societies’ supposed understanding and belief in perpetuating the dooms day prophecy hints at something else. Perhaps a willingness and a yearning for something different to miraculously come about upon this date.

Worldwide conflicts and information leaks pointing to corruption and revealing the moral hypocrisies built into the current global system: the failing economies, endless quantitative easing of the markets in the U.S by the federal reserve to artificially inflate the markets and barely keep them afloat, along with bankrupt European nations, and an increasing level of unemployment and instability throughout the the world point to serious problems. In light of all this there seems to be a change happening as people are becoming aware and proactive.

Protests in nations around the world have taken place in Spain, Egypt, and Syria, to oppose unfair and unethical government sanctions and policies that prevent societal progress from being made.

In light of the current state of the affairs in the world, I think society welcomes, and maybe even wishes something world-changing would occur on the much anticipated date. While I am not a believer that the date will usher in an apocalypse or a disaster, I do have one hope. That when the date comes and goes people will be proactive and stay true to their hopes of ushering in a new generation of change.
